July 21, 2021
It's July 21, 2021. It's National Junk Food Day. We're not telling you to throw your diet aside and eat what you want, but we're not not telling you that either. Eat those chips and enjoy your Wednesday. ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 287 articles, 7 podcasts, 14 press releases, 339 tweets, and 13 YouTube videos 1. iOS 14.7 Is Available to Download With Some New Features iOS 14.7 is here and includes support for the MagSafe battery pack. Other additions are the option to merge two Apple Cards into one account, a new way to manage HomePod timers, and a podcast filter. We'd say 'download it now,' but we all know our phones automatically pulled the update hours ago. 2. Google TV 'Continue Watching' Lists Soon to Be Adjustable Google TV has begun letting some users curate their 'Continue Watching' lists, making it easier to get back to previous shows or hide what they don't want to finish. The rollout is still underway, and Google has been silent on the update, so it's anyone's guess as to which devices will be supported. 3. Instagram Adds Sensitive Content Controls Instagram has new sensitivity controls to adjust how much sensitive content appears in the Explore tab. The default setting will only show some offensive content, while 'Allow' may show more of it. Only users over 18 can use the new controls, though. Underage users have to settle for the default. Makes sense. 🦑 Go Deeper Apple provides 5GB of iCloud storage for free. Is that enough? Charlie Sorrel doesn't think so, and proposes its beyond time for the company to give people more to work with. 🎱 By the Numbers 55 and up, too? Nice. Data: Business of Apps It's not surprising that people between 18 and 34 are Instagram's primary users, but never think they're the only ones on the social media app. 35, 45, 55, and even 65-year-olds spend time on the app, too, because, hey, anyone can get into anything. Let's hope 65+'s 2.3% increases dramatically this year. 🔥 Today's Hot Deal
The 2021 Roku Express 4K+ is down to $29 on Amazon right now, thanks to a nice $10 discount. 4K streaming, more services than you can stand, and a voice remote? Definitely a deal. 🤓 Nerd Out "To low-Earth orbit and beyond!" —Tim Fisher, General Manager Blue Origin has joined the shortlist of private companies that have successfully completed their first human flights into space. If you want to see how it all played out, you can watch the whole 2hr replay right now! (Share on Twitter) 💎 You Know You Want It Bluetooth speaker or tiny UFO? Image: Louis Vuitton Tag Heuer tempted us with a $2,000 smartwatch, now Louis Vuitton is here with the $2,800 Horizon Light Up Speaker. It looks just as expensive as it is, made with glass, stainless steel, and leather, over 30 LEDs, and the brand's symbols covering it like decals on a race car. Come on, you know you want it. 🚀 Facing the Future Pollution, coming to a universe near you? Former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has now been to space, and his first thought after touching back down? Heavy and polluting industries should be moved to space. Good idea? Bad idea? We think it'll be expensive, regardless. 🗞 Extra! Extra! We've got you covered with the best in daily tech news!
