September 9, 2021
It's September 9, 2021. It's National Teddy Bear Day! Prop one up next to you and give it a hug a couple times a day. We bet it'll improve your day a little bit. ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 448 articles, 19 podcasts, 11 press releases, 211 tweets, and 9 YouTube videos 1. Bose Unveils Its New Smart Soundbar 900 Bose has unveiled the Smart Soundbar 900 with a slew of features from Dolby Atmos to HDMI support. In addition to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, it also works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, as well as Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2, and other Bose smart speakers. Want one? It'll run you $900. Whoa. 2. Twitter Testing a Way to Block Someone Without Unfollowing Them Twitter is testing yet another feature that could become a mainstay on the platform: a way to remove a follower without unfollowing them altogether. The feature would make it "easier to be the curator of your own followers list." Testing of the feature is web only for now, so we'll see how it works out. 3. Google Workspace Is Expanding With Several New Tools Updates are coming to Google Workspace, as well as a new Spaces feature, to try and make hybrid in-office/remote working conditions better for everyone. From setting your location in Calendar to Google Meet's new companion mode to taking voice/video calls through Gmail, these updates have it all. 🦑 Go Deeper We all love a good MacBook Air or Pro, but if Sascha Brodsky's time spent with the LG Gram 17 is anything to go by, some Windows laptops are in a pretty good place right now. 🎱 By the Numbers Surprise, surprise (not really) Data: statcounter Google Search has a pretty firm grasp over people all over the world. And how could it not? What other search engine has its own verb ("I Googled it."). That said, a small, small percentage of people use Bing and DuckDuckGo. Is that due to personal preference, or do some people just like being different? 🔥 Today's Hot Deal
Apple's AirPods Pro are on sale again on Amazon, and this time they're down to $189.98. You know the drill: need new buds? Snag a pair before they're gone. 🤓 Nerd Out "Who ever said unicorns aren't real?" —Kyree Leary, Associate News Editor We all know about Boston Dynamic's Spot robot, but what about a robot unicorn for kids? That's exactly what Chinese EV maker Xpeng wants to accomplish. And we're kinda into it. (Share on Twitter) 💎 You Know You Want It Print photos from anywhere Image: Canon If you're tired of simply texting friends photos you took or sharing them on social media, why not use Canon's IVY Mini Photo Printer to print them out instead? Fans of old Polaroid cameras will likely enjoy this, as well as those who just like physically passing around photos to their friends and family. 🎮 Up-Down-A-B-Start Video games are movies, too? Some video games are still chasing the auteur film feeling, and Twelve Minutes is the latest to aim for such a spotlight. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite measure up, as explained by Lewis Gordon over on Waypoint. Give it a read. 🗞 Extra! Extra! We've got you covered with the best in daily tech news!
