SEPTEMBER 24, 2020
Everything worth knowing in tech today, September 24, 2020. Today is National Punctuation Day, so feel free to use more commas than usual. ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 334 articles, 8 podcasts, 23 press releases, 425 tweets, and 14 YouTube videos 1. Navigate COVID Safely Using Google Maps Google has added a COVID Info layer to Maps that will show you a seven-day average of COVID cases for the area you're viewing, and let you know if cases are rising or falling. Breathe a little easier the next time you go out. 2. Updating to iOS 14 Could Remove Epic Games' Fortnite If you want to keep Fortnite on your iPhone or iPad, be careful when updating to iOS 14. The update will temporarily remove apps if you don't have enough storage space, and if one of those is Fortnite, you might not get it back. Whoops! 3. Spotify Makes Podcasts More Interactive With New Polling Feature Spotify is adding polls to make it easier for podcasters and listeners to interact. If you've ever wanted to share your opinion with a host, but didn't want to send an email, here's your chance to work those voting muscles. 🦑 Go Deeper On the surface, Facebook's Images Rights Tool is a great idea, but is it really all that useful? Charlie Sorrel takes a deeper look at the tool and how it's not really meant for the average person. 🎱 By the Numbers Do we spend too much time on Twitter? Data: Simform Sure, everyone thinks mobile will be the new face of office and work on the go, but at this point, all signs point to productivity apps as the least of the software on our phones. Sorry, boss, but we'll be over here on Facebook or playing a game (or two). 🤓 Nerd Out "This is how you customize your iPhone." -Bob Schulties, Senior Editor If you ever thought you could design a better iOS home screen, here's your chance. Install iOS 14 and Widgetsmith, then make it as purty or ugly as you want. (Share on Twitter) 💎 You Know You Want It No surface too big Image: Microsoft If you have $20,000 burning a hole in your pocket (and a lot of presentations to give) the Surface Hub 2S is perfect for you. It's part tablet, part high-tech whiteboard, and a very expensive addition to your home office when it arrives in January 2021. 🎮 Up-Down-A-B-Start Avengers (almost) Assemble Long before the Marvel Cinematic Universe took off and Crystal Dynamics set out to make an Avengers game, THQ was working on one of their own back in 2009. Unfortunately, things didn't go too well for the team. 🗞 Extra! Extra! We've got you covered with the best in daily tech news! See the latest on our site or follow us on Google News.
