February 7, 2022
It's February 7, 2022—National Send a Card to a Friend Day. If you already knew about this day, you've probably sent a dear friend a card to let them know you're thinking of them. Everyone else? Well, hey, e-cards exist for this reason. ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 209 articles, 3 podcasts, 5 press releases, 220 tweets, and 7 YouTube videos 1. Twitter Is Expanding Tests for Upvotes and Downvotes Twitter is expanding its up/downvote feature test to include the web and Android, as well as more users. Some are still wary of the feature, however, as it could be abused to boost or silence voices to confirm users' own biases. Still, Twitter's gonna Twitter and go through with it anyway. Yaaay! 2. Pixel 6 Magic Eraser Reportedly Crashing Photos App Pixel 6 users have reported that Magic Eraser, which lets you remove people or objects from photos, causes the Google Photos app to crash. The issue relates to the latest Google Photos app update, and there doesn't seem to be an actual fix just yet. You know the saying: new features, new problems. 3. Meta Adds Personal Boundaries to Fight Harassment in VR Games Meta is adding a Personal Boundary feature to Horizon Worlds and Horizon Venues to protect people from harassment. The addition ensures players stay about four feet from each other, maintaining personal space. Actions like fist-bumps are still possible, though, you'll just have to stretch your arm further. π¦ Go Deeper Spotify's in a bit of trouble these days, huh? It all stems from its podcasting business and a particular show, which has prompted Charlie Sorrel to wonder if the platform should consider reducing its podcast efforts in favor of music. π± By the Numbers Wait, what's "Other uses?" Data: Backlinko A lot of people (perhaps too many) use Twitter for a variety of reasons. For some, it's a quick way to learn what's happening in the world or in media. For others, they're simply connecting with people. We won't say we're concerned about the "Other uses" folks, but we'll be wondering what that means for a bit. π₯ Today's Hot Deal
Old Apple Watch no longer doing it for you? You're in luck, because the Apple Watch Series 7 (GPS only, 41mm) is down to $349 on Amazon right now. You know what that is? Perfect smartwatch pricing. Get on it asap, and pick a good color, too. π€ Nerd Out "You know what I never needed? That!" —Tim Fisher, General Manager Ever wondered how much toilet paper you or someone you live with uses? Well, someone has created a TP tracker that tracks a roll's rotations to determine how much they used. We hope this doesn't start any... questionable competitions. (Share on Twitter) π You Know You Want It Bright and vibrant Image: GE, Amazon Basic lightbulbs get the job done just fine, but a little color goes a long way.
