February 18, 2022
It's February 18, 2022. Guess what? It's Friday again! Time to celebrate some much earn weekend relaxation with new music. Oh, and we're out Monday due to Presidents' Day, but, please, don't miss us too much. Apple Music | Spotify ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 408 articles, 15 podcasts, 17 press releases, 349 tweets, and 21 YouTube videos 1. Chrome and Firefox Reaching Ver. 100 Could Be a Problem Both Chrome and Firefox are a few updates away from version 100, and there are concerns the third digit could break some websites. Specifically, in this case, some websites are set up to look for browser version numbers, but may not be able to account for anything above version 99. Y2K, anyone? 2. YouTube Announces New Moves to Combat Misinformation YouTube has announced plans to tackle misinformation. Taking a three-tiered approach, it will use machine-learning to catch offending content, limit cross-platform sharing of misinformation, and address misinformation in languages beyond English. Can it pull it off? Hope so; it's too big to not take seriously. 3. Samsung Hints at New Galaxy Book Ahead of Livestream Event Samsung is teasing a brand new Galaxy Book laptop ahead of the Mobile World Congress event on Feb. 27. Details are scarce, but Samsung says it's working with Intel and Microsoft on the laptop, focusing on device consistency, performance, and security. Won't be long until we find out how true that is. π¦ Go Deeper Tracking cookies are terrible for those of us who are frequently online, but a new settlement involving Meta could make regulators realize how bad cookies truly are. Let Mayank Sharma tell you all about it. π± By the Numbers We love consistency Data: Mozilla Sure, the above graph isn't the most interesting data to look at, but it does tell us something important: that Firefox has pretty consistent users. Across all worldwide users, people spend an average of five hours on the browser and that remains steady. We wonder how many were converted from Chrome. π₯ Today's Hot Deal
The 2021, 10.1-Inch Fire HD 10 Plus tablet is $40 off on Amazon right now, dropping it to a pretty fair $154.99. Sound too good to be true? It's not, and it's about time you upgraded from that old tablet. π€ Nerd Out "Too many words!" —Jerri Ledford, Content Analyst We know you might be sick of Wordle by now, but don't worry, because now we're talking about Sedecordle, which lets you complete 16 Wordle puzzles at the same time. Why? Well, why not? (Share on Twitter) π You Know You Want It Memories in motion Image: Nixplay, Amazon Tired of your old, static picture frames? Check out the Nixplay 10.1 inch Digital Frame. Use it to display photos/videos and interact with it via its touchscreen or companion app. Heck, why not get 3-4 of them and have a room full of photo slideshows and other memorable moments captured on video? π₯ Behind the Scenes MoviePass is back... with more ads Remember MoviePass, the subscription service that let people buy multiple movie tickets for a monthly fee? It's coming back, but now with a new offer that'll let people watch ads to earn MoviePass credit. Sounds cool. Oh, and it'll track your eyes to make sure you're watching. Not so cool. π Extra! Extra!
