February 22, 2022
It's February 22, 2022—National Margarita Day. We're not telling you to have a drink on the job, but when the evening hits and you need to wind down, maybe chill out with your favorite margarita. Just a thought. ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 208 articles, 3 podcasts, 6 press releases, 290 tweets, and 10 YouTube videos 1. Apple Will Reportedly Debut M2 Chip and New Mac Models This Year Apple has big plans for the Mac this year, according to a new report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Specifically, the company is expected to release a new Mac powered by the M2 chip, as well as new hardware utilizing the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. Looks like waiting to buy a Mac may pay off big time. 2. Samsung Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra Don't Need 45W Charging The latest Samsung Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra smartphones can use either 45W or 25W charging, but the former may not be as necessary as expected. Turns out, 45W charging only saves you 1-2 mins, aka, a difference so small most of us probably wouldn't even notice. Ugh. Come on, Samsung! 3. Instagram Subtly Changes 'Daily Time Limit' Feature When Instagram introduced its Daily Time Limit feature, users could set it to be as low as 10 mins. Now, it seems Instagram/Facebook/Meta has quietly updated our choices, making 30 mins the new shortest option. We guess it didn't like people having a healthy short-and-sweet relationship with the app. π¦ Go Deeper Yeah, Apple's AirTags are pretty neat, but please be careful with them. Not because we don't trust you, but because people have been using them to stalk people. Sascha Brodsky has the deep dive you need on the situation. π± By the Numbers Ads for everyone! Data: Hootsuite Instagram pushes a lot of ads onto people, and we shouldn't be surprised that a majority of them are going to those between the ages of 18 and 34, who make up most of the platform's user base. Every age and gender group would probably love fewer ads, but we think we lost that fight already. π₯ Today's Hot Deal
The JBL Reflect Mini True Wireless Sport Headphones are $50 off at Best Buy right now, dropping them down to a very tempting $99.99. You can always use new earbuds, so go take these for a spin before they go back up to full price. π€ Nerd Out "Perseverance is staying true to its name." —Stefanie Fogel, Editorial Commerce Producer What is NASA's Perseverance rover up to these days? Well, it's now been tasked with investigating an ancient Mars river, which is sure to tell us even more about the red planet's history and signs of life. (Share on Twitter) π You Know You Want It Decked out and protected Image: WaterField Designs It'd be a shame if something damaged your new Steam Deck, right? All the more reason to look into WaterField Designs' new CitySlicker case. It comes in a variety of colors like white, black, and crimson, and you can get a wrist strap or carabiner to make it even easier to carry. Seems like a no-brainer to us. π Doin' It Right No matter what, you're still you People living with motor neurone can struggle to speak, but the book "I Will Always Be Me" aims to help them by recording/banking their voice for them to return to later, and hopefully always retain a part of themselves. Very nice. π Extra! Extra! We've got you covered with the best in daily tech news! See the latest on our site or follow us on Apple News and Google News. Did someone forward this to you?
