June 9, 2021
It's June 9, 2021. It's National Donald Duck Day! Celebrate the Disney icon with your best Donald impression. We won't judge. ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 413 articles, 8 podcasts, 15 press releases, 355 tweets, and 14 YouTube videos 1. The Nord N200 is OnePlus' Next Budget 5G Smartphone OnePlus' CEO has revealed the company's upcoming Nord N200, a budget-friendly 5G phone set to launch later this year. Full details haven't been disclosed yet, but we know it'll resemble last year's N100, have 5G capabilities, and sport a 6.49-inch, 1080P LCD display. Sounds like a smartphone to us! 2. Spatial and Lossless Audio Now Available On Apple Music Dolby Atmos spatial audio and lossless audio are now available to Apple Music subscribers. Spatial audio works on iPad, iPhone, Mac, and Apple TV via AirPods and Beats headphones with an H1 or W1 chip. Lossless audio, sadly, won't work with Bluetooth headphones (or even wired AirPods Max. Ugh). 3. Google Drops Pixel Security Patch and Feature Update The latest Pixel feature update is out now and includes new experiences and ways to use your device, as well as security patches. Do Pride Month Wallpapers, taking videos of the stars, and rejecting a call using Google Assistant sound good to you? You'll want to update ASAP. 🦑 Go Deeper How good is the new PlayStation 5 exclusive, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart? Matt Cabral thinks it's "both an exceptional game and a phenomenal showcase" of what the console can do. Guess we really need a PS5 now. 🎱 By the Numbers Apple Music's nice, but have you seen Spotify? Data: Business of Apps Between Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Spotify, Apple's streaming option is currently in second place when it comes to users. Will Dolby Atmos and lossless audio boost subscriber numbers? Apple probably hopes so. Let's see. 🔥 Today's Hot Deal
HolyStone's HS130D GPS Drone with 2K camera and bonus battery is $44 off on Newegg right now, bringing it down to a nice $95.99. Ready to take to the skies with a drone of your own? Snatch this one up now. 🤓 Nerd Out "This explains so much." —Kyree Leary, Associate News Editor We all probably check our phones a lot, but maybe it's not our fault? A new study suggests that if one person looks at their phone, others nearby will do the same within 30 seconds. It's like passing on a yawn. (Share on Twitter) 💎 You Know You Want It Pump up the volume Image: Andover Vinyl and turntable fans should add Andover's SpinBase all-in-one speaker system to their wishlist. The $300 piece of hardware can connect to any turntable, has bluetooth support, 270-degree sound, and more. Do we want this? Of course we do. We like good audio as much as the next person. 🚀 Facing the Future What's he riding on? We're hopefully getting closer to "real" hoverboards with each passing year, and this video of someone riding a massive drone looks to be our best sign yet. We don't know the rider, but we know the "drone" is one of Omni Hoverboards' creations. And we can't wait for the finished product. 🗞 Extra! Extra!
