June 17, 2021
It's June 17, 2021. We're out tomorrow to observe Juneteenth, so here's some music to hold you over. See ya on Monday! Apple Music | Spotify ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 319 articles, 9 podcasts, 13 press releases, 367 tweets, and 11 YouTube videos 1. McAfee Reports Security Exploit in Peloton Bike+ McAfee has reported that a Peloton Bike+ security flaw could have allowed hackers to install malware to steal riders' information. Don't panic, though, as a patch has since been released, meaning you can continue using in-gym Peloton bikes without worry. Phew. Thanks for the heads-up, McAfee. 2. Spotify Releases Audio-Only App Called Greenroom If you needed another interactive audio app, look no further than Spotify's Greenroom. Like Clubhouse and Twitter Spaces, the app allows users to host live conversations on topics ranging from music, culture, and sports, to entertainment and more. Interested? You can download it for free. 3. Lossless and Spatial Audio Hit Apple Music for Android Beta Android users trying the Apple Music beta can now use spatial and lossless audio. You'll still need a device that supports Dolby Atmos and lossless files, much like its iOS counterpart, but hey, progress. For non-beta users, the new audio options should hit the public "sometime in the future." Very specific. 🦑 Go Deeper A new version of Windows is nearly upon us, but how much of a shift are we in for? Based on Joshua Hawkins' deep dive into the topic, we should expect significant, but not revolutionary, changes. 🎱 By the Numbers Europe's showing Spotify some love Data: Spotify Spotify is pretty popular all over the world, but Europe is where the largest portion of its activity comes from. North and Latin America aren't too far behind, but considering this all adds up to ~350 million users, we bet Spotify's fairly satisfied, regardless of which region has the higher percentage. 🔥 Today's Hot Deal
The Echo Show 5 (first-gen) is down to $45 for Amazon Prime members right now. Ready for a more personal Alexa device? Grab this one now. 🤓 Nerd Out "Welcome to NYC, Google." —Bob Schulties, Senior Editor Google's new retail store opens in NYC today. What can you expect the first time you walk in? Let Google break it all down for you. We think it looks kinda cozy. (Share on Twitter) 💎 You Know You Want It Can we build it? Yes, we can! Image: Flashforge If you want to enter the world of 3d printing, Flashforge's Adventurer 3 is specifically made for beginners. It comes already assembled, has an auto leveling build plate, and can auto feed itself the necessary building materials. It's also only $359, which we all know is within impulse purchasing range. 🎮 Up-Down-A-B-Start People love options New PlayStation 5-exclusive, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, has three graphical options, more than what the typical game provides. Waypoint's Patrick Klepek wonders if it's time for console games to let people have more control over their settings to get the exact experience they want. Give it a read. 🗞 Extra! Extra!
