June 23, 2021
It's June 23, 2021. On this day in 1868, the first QWERTY typewriter was patented, kicking off what would eventually become the most used keyboard layout in the world. ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 345 articles, 9 podcasts, 9 press releases, 359 tweets, and 10 YouTube videos 1. Samsung Announces a New 14-Inch Galaxy Chromebook Go Samsung has revealed a new 14-inch Chromebook Go. Like the recent Galaxy Book Go (Wi-Fi), the Chromebook Go has a 720p HD camera, 14-inch TFT HD display, 4-8GB of memory, and up to 128GB of storage. Pricing hasn't been detailed, but it'll likely be similar to the Galaxy Book Go's $349. Any takers? 2. Twitter Wants You To Test Two New Money-Making Features Twitter wants users to test its new Super Follows and Ticketed Spaces features. Android and iOS users can try Ticketed Spaces, but only iOS users can test Super Follows. Both are designed to help users make money, but it's unlikely to make Twitter better for your mental health. Can't have it all. 3. Zoom Is Making Pronoun Sharing Easier for Users Zoom just made pronoun sharing easier by providing a dedicated profile page entry for all users. Originally, you'd have to enter them with your display name, making the name entry field a little crowded. We definitely prefer this method, and you should update to Zoom 5.7.0 or later to get started. Thanks, Zoom! 🦑 Go Deeper We won't really know what Windows 11 is like until its official public release, but Joshua Hawkins managed to spend some time with an early build, discovering it's much more macOS-like than anticipated. Nice. 🎱 By the Numbers We really need to get off Twitter Data: Pew Research Center Look, we all probably check Twitter more than we'd like to admit, which is why we're surprised to see over 50% of users check the social media platform less frequently than they have in the past. How?! We need to learn from them. Please teach us. 🔥 Today's Hot Deal
These Beats Solo Pro Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones are $150 off at Walmart right now, dropping them to a very nice $149. That screams "deal" to us, so hop to it! 🤓 Nerd Out "A time before Candy Crush and Snapchat? Perfection." —Bob Schulties, Senior Editor It's hard to remember a time before Apple's App Store, but that era did exist. Before iOS and iPadOS apps, there were web apps in Safari, and the web app directory on Apple.com. Oh, how far we've come. (Share on Twitter) 💎 You Know You Want It On autopilot Image: Skydio You could fly your own drone and capture your own footage, but what if it was automated? That's what the Skydio 2 is poised to do, touted as a "personal film crew." It starts at $1,349, but for the price you get a drone with 4K/60 HDR, Wi-Fi and GPS, and did we mention it follows you on its own? Worth it. 🚀 Facing the Future No parties, only experiments Imagine a cruise ship in which only science is permitted. You've basically come up with the Earth 300, a superyacht meant to hold 22 laboratories and 160 scientists from all over the world. Why? To be the "Noah's Ark of science," of course. Oh, and to help develop AI, robotics, machine learning, and more. 🗞 Extra! Extra! We've got you covered with the best in daily tech news! See the latest on our site or follow us on Google News.
