It's June 30, 2021. It's Social Media Day! Why not take some time away from Facebook, Twitter, and the rest of social media? Look, we'll join you. Wear OS Coming to Samsung's New Galaxy Watch This Summer Samsung arrived at MWC 2021 on Tuesday with the news that it would have the first smartwatch to use the new Wear OS when it releases this summer. Ads Spotted in Google Verification Text Messages Ads have been spotted in Google's verification texts. Google has already looked into the instance and noted the ad came from an Australian phone carrier. It's unlikely such ads will become common, though, with Google embracing security keys and other authentication apps. Good call, Google. 🦑 Go Deeper Some are wary of implementing biometrics into online security, but Joshua Hawkins is here with a deep dive on the topic that says otherwise. In fact, biometrics could make privacy much more accessible. 🎱 By the Numbers Apple Watches are still popular Data: Counterpoint Research 2021 has been kind to Apple, with Apple Watch accounting for 33% of all smartwatch sales so far. But it's not the only maker out there. Huawei and Samsung are fighting for second place, and Garmin, Xiaomi, and more make up 40% of all sales. Every company probably wants a higher %, though. 🔥 Today's Hot Deal

AI can and will be used for a lot of things, but did anyone have "voice acting" on its to-do list? Now that a modder has trained AI to mimic video game voice actors, we'd better get used to it. Human actors will undoubtedly (and understandably) be against it. 🗞 Extra! Extra! We've got you covered with the best in daily tech news! See the latest on our site or follow us on Google News. Tech companies like Apple don't want you doing it, but you can anyway. Just make sure you know the risks and that it'll invalidate your warranty. 🗞 Extra! Extra!
