May 26, 2021
It's May 26, 2021. National Blueberry Cheesecake Day? Seems rather specific, but we'll take it. You can send us one whenever you like. No need to wait till next year. ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 298 articles, 7 podcasts, 11 press releases, 387 tweets, and 4 YouTube videos 1. Tidal Brings Offline Listening to Apple Watch First Deezer, then Spotify, and now Tidal: All available to download music for offline listening on your Apple Watch. The service's typical lossless format won't transfer over, of course; you'll only have access to lower resolution music files on your wrist. Still, it's a nice step forward. 2. Google's Fuchsia Operating System Set to Roll Out Soon If you're sick of Google's smart home interface, you're in luck; the company's updated smart home OS, Fuschia, is rolling out to devices soon, starting with the Google Nest Hub. It's about time, really, as Google seems to be paying more attention to its OSes, including teaming up with Samsung for Wear OS. 3. New Search Engine Designed for Internet Accessibility Using the web is not as easy for those of us with disabilities, so AccessiBe decided to create the first search engine that helps find accessible websites. Called AccessFind, the search engine will launch soon, but we're not sure when, specifically. Still, though, it's an important step for millions of people. 🦑 Go Deeper Qualcomm's new modem technology could make your Wi-Fi faster than wired fiber internet. Our very own Joshua Hawkins has a deeper look at how that might work and what it could mean to us all. 🎱 By the Numbers Oh, Tidal Data: Business of Apps Tidal hasn't even reported its numbers since 2016 (the other three years in the graph above are estimated only). Still, it hardly matters, as Apple Music and Spotify are way ahead anyway. Here's hoping Tidal on Apple Watch will help the company get a few more folks listening, then. 🔥 Today's Hot Deal
If you're looking to buy a new Samsung Galaxy S21, now might be your chance, as the flagship smartphone with 5G and 128GB of storage is $100 off at Amazon right now, making for an easier to imagine $699.99. 🤓 Nerd Out "That's a big 'berg." —Tim Fisher, General Manager The largest iceberg on Earth (100 miles long and 15 miles wide) has apparently just broken off of Antarctica. Though not definitively linked to climate change yet, global warming may accelerate this kind of thing in the future. (Share on Twitter) 💎 You Know You Want It Mmmmm, AirTags Image: Waterfield Designs One of our favorite computer, tablet, and gadget bag makers out there, Waterfield Designs, has just released their own take on the soon to be ubiquitous AirTag keychain and AirTag luggage tags, and wow are these sweet. Grab a set as soon as you can; they're bound to sell out quickly. 🚀 Facing the Future I like robots Robots are cool, right? How about literally? These new robot hands cool themselves off with sweaty fingers, just like you and I do. It sounds gross, but it's actually a pretty chill robot design, helping ensure that hand-like robots can stay working even in hot environments. 🗞 Extra! Extra!
