December 3, 2021
It's December 3, 2021. Welcome to another Friday. We don't know about you, but we could use another break already. Let's all strive to have a chill weekend, and here's some music to help make it happen. Enjoy. Apple Music | Spotify ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 408 articles, 13 podcasts, 15 press releases, 417 tweets, and 20 YouTube videos 1. Windows Really Doesn't Want You to Download Chrome Microsoft has tripled-down on pushing its Edge web browser via pop-up messages that appear when you try to download Chrome in Windows 11. While they won't stop you from downloading Chrome, they do try to push Edge as the better alternative. For real, Microsoft? Is this desperation or tactical? 2. Qualcomm Unveils a New Handheld Gaming Console: the G3x Qualcomm is getting into handheld gaming with the G3x Gen 1 Gaming Platform. Made in partnership with Razer, it's pitched as a cross-platform device that can stream PC, Android, and console games. There's no release date for it yet, but we're curious to see it compete with Valve's Steam Deck. 3. Tesla Announces Cybertruck-Inspired Vehicle for Kids Remember the Cybertruck, Tesla's polarizing electric truck? Now there's a spinoff aimed at children. Appropriately called the Cyberquad for Kids, it's an electric ATV that runs for 15 miles per charge and can hit speeds of up to 10MPH. Want one for Christmas? It'll run you $1,900. You have that, right? 🦑 Go Deeper Subwoofers are useful, but are they necessary? Let Charlie Sorrel convince you to get one asap, as he delves into what they do and how they improve your home audio listening experience. 🎱 By the Numbers A clear favorite Data: Statcounter Microsoft using pop-ups to get people to use its browser may seem intrusive (because it is), but when you see the huge difference between Chrome and Edge's market share, the push makes a ton of sense. Edge is nowhere near as popular and, unfortunately, it's likely to stay that way. Sorry, Microsoft. 🔥 Today's Hot Deal
iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 owners who need more battery power during the day should check out Apple's MagSafe battery pack. It's down to $74.99 on Amazon right now, and should provide a neat and convenient way to get more juice on the go. 🤓 Nerd Out "Prawn for your thoughts?" —Rob LeFebvre, Senior News Editor Ever wanted to know what a jellyfish is thinking about? Because scientists have found a way to observe jellyfish neurons to understand how they make complex movements. What? You actually wanted to hear their thoughts? Weird. (Share on Twitter) 💎 You Know You Want It Blue means no one can hear you Image: Uncommon Goods If you've ever been unsure if you were muted during one of your many video calls, this Physical Mute Button from Uncommon Goods may be the way to go. Plug it into your PC or laptop, set which colors to use when you're muted and unmuted, then you can confidently sneeze, cough, yawn, and eat in peace. 🎥 Behind the Scenes Why is the music always louder than the actors? Sometimes the dialogue is too quiet. Sometimes the music is too loud. What's going on here?! SlashFilm's Ben Pearson searched for an answer, learning it's a filmmaking industry-wide issue, though not an impossible one to solve. 🗞 Extra! Extra!
