November 22, 2021
It's November 22, 2021. On this day in 1995, Disney and Pixar released Toy Story, the first major motion picture created entirely with computer animations. Can you believe we're on Toy Story 4 now? ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 316 articles, 6 podcasts, 5 press releases, 4280 tweets, and 6 YouTube videos 1. Google Messages May Convert iMessage Reactions to Emoji Digging into the latest Google Messages beta has uncovered an intended alternative to how the app deals with iMessage reactions. Specifically, it looks like Google will have the app replace iMessage reaction texts with emoji. It's a beta, of course, so things could change, but we're into the idea. 2. LG and Nvidia Team up to Deliver Cloud PC Gaming to TVs Nvidia and LG have released the GeForce Now game streaming service beta for select 2021 LG TV models. Alongside regular game streaming, the service also allows players to start a game on their LG TV and move to another device without losing progress. Smart! (Please be good.) 3. Starbucks, Amazon Go Team up to Launch a NYC Concept Store Amazon and Starbucks have teamed up on a new store, dubbed "Starbucks Pickup with Amazon Go." Now open in Manhattan, it's meant to provide customers with a convenient digital checkout experience reminiscent of Amazon's other Go store locations. But, y'know, with Starbucks stuff instead. 🦑 Go Deeper Email aliases sound like a great way to keep our emails and other data safe from prying eyes, but Joshua Hawkins is here to inform us of an unfortunate truth: they may not be as secure as we think they are. Dang. 🎱 By the Numbers $100 for only 6 months?! Data: Nvidia GeForce Now memberships aren't separated by how good your internet speeds are, but how good you want your gaming sessions to be. A basic, presumably lower-quality session is free. But if you want to know what it's like to play on a high-end PC, that'll run you $100. Worth it? We sure hope so. 🔥 Today's Hot Deal
Need better TV audio, but don't have the means to do high-tech surround sound? The Roku Streambar is a great, space-efficient alternative that's down to $79.99 right now on Amazon. No need for thanks, just go treat yourself. 🤓 Nerd Out "Ol' reliable." —Molly McLaughlin, Senior Content Strategist Netflix doesn't seem to go down nearly as much as some other services. Why? Let The Verge tell you about how the streaming service withstands the millions of people simultaneously using it.
