April 26, 2021
It's April 26, 2021. It's National Pretzel Day. Grab a warm pretzel and try to start the week off right. ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 275 articles, 5 podcasts, 9 press releases, 243 tweets, and 7 YouTube videos 1. Snapchat Added Another 15 Million Users in 2021 Snapchat's having a pretty good 2021, as the company reported it has added over 15 million new users in the new year, bringing its total number of active users to an impressive 280 million. The platform is also seeing more activity from Android than iOS for the first time. Maybe iOS is more of a TikToker? 2. YouTube App Gets New Resolution Options to Curb Data Usage The YouTube app has new resolution options to help control data usage. 'Auto' and 'Data saver' do what you'd expect, while 'Higher picture quality' uses more data. The last option, 'Advanced', lets you choose a resolution, but you can't make it the default for every video. Weird design choice? We agree. 3. New 2021 iPad Pro Won't Support Older Magic Keyboard Before you ditch your dusty 2018/2020 iPad Pro to get the M1 version, you should know the original Magic Keyboard won't work with it. Both iGeneration and The Verge have confirmed the lack of support. But hey, if you buy the new 2021 Magic Keyboard, it'll support the older iPad Pros. Good deal, right? Right? 🦑 Go Deeper Before you toss your old phone in a drawer, consider repurposing it. Allison Matyus has the deep dive on Samsung's new efforts to encourage upcycling, and how it could be good for the environment. 🎱 By the Numbers Listen to all those snaps Data: Snapchat 280 million users is a decent milestone for Snapchat, but looking at its performance over the last year, it was likely inevitable. The multimedia messaging app has only grown since 2019, which is probably a sign that, whatever they're doing over there, they should keep doing it. 🔥 Today's Hot Deal
