MARCH 22, 2021
It's March 22, 2021. It's National Goof Off Day, too. Is this the best or worst day to fall on a Monday? ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 243 articles, 5 podcasts, 11 press releases, 143 tweets, and 12 YouTube videos 1. Twitter's Testing YouTube Video Playback Within the App We guess Twitter's fed up with watching YouTube videos in other apps, as the social media platform is now testing YouTube playback within the app itself. Only a small number of iOS users are part of the test, but if rolled out to everyone, be ready to spend even more time doom-scrolling. Oh boy. 2. OnePlus Watch Revealed Ahead of Official Announcement The OnePlus Watch has been revealed ahead of OnePlus' March 23 event. It looks like what you'd expect (a smartwatch), and will have familiar features like sleep tracking, workout detection, and something called Warp Charge, which can supply a week's worth of battery life from a 20-min charge. Cool! 3. Mozilla, Reddit, and More Want the FCC to Restore Net Neutrality Firefox developer Mozilla, with the support of Reddit, Vimeo, Dropbox, and others, has penned a letter to the FCC in an effort to restore Net Neutrality. Mozilla says these protections are necessary for "preserving the internet as a free and open medium that promotes innovation and spurs economic growth." What say you, FCC? 🦑 Go Deeper The Android platform already has a ton of apps, but what if there were even more? Joshua Hawkins has the deep dive on how Google decreasing their commission fee could entice app developers and reduce the necessity of in-app purchases. 🎱 By the Numbers Tweetstorm Data: Business of Apps Twitter's been around for over a decade, but it's rarely been on a downward trend. There was a brief "drop" to 321 million users in 2018, but it rose again relatively quickly to around 350 million by the end of Q3 2020. We suspect even more people are tweeting now, but only Twitter knows for certain. 🔥 Today's Hot Deal

Is it good? Bad? How many Marios does it have? Regardless, we're convinced we have to go one day. (Share on Twitter) 💎 You Know You Want It The only dock you need Image: StudioDock Sure, you can find a creative way to prop up your iPad, but what if you bought StudioDock's iPad Docking Station instead? It has a USB-C port for your iPad, multiple USB 3.0 ports, wireless charging space for your iPhone, and more. Now, yes, it is back-ordered, but we hear patience is a virtue these days. 🎧 Listen Up Mission Impossible: Professional Deepfakes Remember those scarily accurate Tom Cruise deepfakes? Turns out, they were made by a professional visual effects artist with the help of a Tom Cruise impersonator.
