March 18, 2022
It's March 18, 2022—National Awkward Moments Day. Don't make the mistake we almost made and think about a bunch of embarrassing times in your life. Instead, acknowledge they happened, then move on. They happen to everyone. ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 349 articles, 17 podcasts, 15 press releases, 449 tweets, and 26 YouTube videos 1. Samsung Reveals New Galaxy A53 5G Samsung has revealed its new A-series smartphone, the Galaxy A53 5G. The phone will have a four-lens camera system, a 6.5-inch AMOLED display, 128GB of storage, and 25W Fast Charging. Basically, it's good. Eager to upgrade phones again? You can pre-order now ahead of its March 31 launch. 2. Roomba i3 and i3+ Get Siri Support in a New Update A new update for the Roomba i3 and i3+ robot vacuums is adding Siri support. Other features are coming too, like a child lock to avoid accidental starts, and the ability to recognize clothing and towels as avoidable objects. Finally, no more wondering where our socks went… and what's wrong with the Roomba. 3. T-Mobile and BMW Partner to Create USA's First 5G Cars BMW and T-Mobile have teamed up to bring 5G to the 2022 BMW iX and i4, allowing drivers to use their cars as Wi-Fi hotspots. Of course, this won't be free. You'll pay $20/month for the T-Mobile subscription and, oh yeah, the price of a new BMW. Totally worth it, though, right? 🦑 Go Deeper Using your iPad as a second monitor for your Mac is already possible, but Charlie Sorrel claims Apple's new Universal Control feature takes it even further, turning it into a seamless, "game changing" experience. Wow. 🎱 By the Numbers A smart device for all occasions Data: Hippo Of course people use smart home tech for a variety of reasons, but the chart above shows that many simply rely on it to make their lives slightly easier. Echo devices, Roombas, Wi-Fi-light bulbs; all of these solve problems that aren't really problems, but they're cool solutions that save time. We approve! 🔥 Today's Hot Deal
The Honeywell Home Smart Wi-Fi Thermostat is down to $129.99 at Best Buy right now, giving you a fairly inexpensive way to improve how you control your home's temperature. And it works with Alexa and Google Assistant? Even better! 🤓 Nerd Out "This is how you get Terminators!" —Rob LeFebvre, Senior News Editor If you were already worried about contending with robots, MIT's robot mini-cheetah won't help matters, as it's been shown to be pretty capable of sprinting. Oh, good. (Share on Twitter) 💎 You Know You Want It Go, Speed Racer, go! Image: Segway Did you know Segway made go-karts? Would you trust one from them? If so, look no further than the Ninebot Gokart Pro, a 23MPH go-kart that Segway claims has been "tested by a professional go-kart racer." Apparently, you can even drift with it, too. And who doesn't like drifting? No one, that's who. 🎥 Behind the Scenes Really, Netflix? Netflix is unlikely to dramatically change anytime soon, but how we share accounts might if the company has its way. Specifically, the streaming service is testing ways to charge those who share their accounts with other households. Guess we should host our elaborate watch parties ASAP. 🗞 Extra! Extra!
