March 11, 2022
It's March 11, 2022—National 311 Day. Not sure what's so important about the number? This day is for you, and how dialing "3-1-1" can connect you to non-emergency services in certain cities. ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): 401 articles, 12 podcasts, 11 press releases, 421 tweets, and 28 YouTube videos 1. Google Messages Has Improved Reactions and Organization The new Google Messages app update has brought with it some much needed adjustments. The most notable being that iPhone reactions now appear as emoji instead of text descriptions, and you can organize your message into Business and Personal categories. Overall, it's nothing fancy, but it's all useful. 2. Razer Reveals New Lapel Mic and Sound Mixer for Streamers Razer has revealed its $99 Seiren BT lapel mic for remote streaming and the $250 Razer Audio Mixer. The former features noise cancellation that may encourage more outdoor use, while the mixer simplifies soundboard designs that can intimidate newbies. Both are enticing, and both are on sale now. 3. GeForce Now Highest Streaming Tier Available for a Monthly Fee NVIDIA is now offering the RTX 3080 tier of its cloud-gaming service, GeForce Now, for $20/month. Prior to this, the 3080 tier was only available in six-month chunks for $100. Until high-end GPUs are easier to buy, this may be a decent way to play games at 1440p with high frame rates. 🦑 Go Deeper Still not convinced you should upgrade to Windows 11? Mayank Sharma is here to tell you all about the operating system's upcoming major update, and how it may be time to give it another chance. 🎱 By the Numbers Not too bad, NVIDIA Data: NVIDIA If you've got a decent handle on all of your subscription fees, giving Nvidia $20/month for 1440p streaming could be a viable way to play certain games. You even get to play for eight hours, unlike the free tier, which limits you to one hour-long sessions. Doesn't seem like a lot of time, if you ask us. 🔥 Today's Hot Deal
The Google Nest Wi-Fi Mesh Router with Google Assistant (2 pack) is a whopping $80 off at Best Buy right now, dropping it to $189.00. If you've been waiting to give your internet coverage that extra 'oomf,' now might be the time to upgrade. 🤓 Nerd Out "It's like a limousine-limousine." —Bob Schulties, Senior Editor If you've ever wondered what the longest car is, Guinness World Records has an answer for you. It's 100-feet long, has a mini golf course and waterbed, and can be driven from either of its ends. Take that, fancy concept cars. (Share on Twitter) 💎 You Know You Want It Walk and chat Image: Razer Live streamers who want to be a little more mobile may be pleased to see Razer's new Seiren BT, a $99 lapel microphone with bluetooth, noise suppression, and more. Grab your phone, clip on the mic, then take your stream outside so you and your chat can enjoy the sunshine together. 🎥 Behind the Scenes Really hope it's worth it, Cameron Avatar 2 is set to release later this year, and it's been a long time coming. Part of the reason for the long wait is director James Cameron's desire to "do it right," which, in this case, means using new underwater motion capture tech. Talk about ambitious. 🗞 Extra! Extra!
