September 16, 2022. Welcome to another couldn't-get-here-fast-enough Friday! No special days today. Just focus on putting those feet up, relaxing, and enjoying your weekend. And here's the music, as always. Apple Music | Spotify | | ⏰ Today's Big Stories... in 30 Seconds | | Today We Watched, Read, and Listened to (so you don't have to): | 494 articles, 10 podcasts, 18 press releases, 522 tweets, and 22 YouTube videos | | 1. TikTok Now Pushes You to Share More of Your Personal Moments | TikTok is working on a new feature called TikTok Now that aims to push people to share more "authentic moments." Basically, once a day the app will prompt users to take a photo or record a video on the spot—capturing the exact moment they're in. Sounds neat, but we'll wait until everyone has access to it. | 2. iPhone 14 and 14 Plus Are Easier to Fix Due to Removable Back Glass | iPhones are (very slowly) becoming easier to repair. For the iPhone 14 and its Plus counterpart, this is especially true thanks to the discovery that their rear glass panel is removable, meaning fixers don't have to remove the display just to replace a cracked back. Why'd it take so long for Apple to do this? | 3. Snapchat for Web Arrives So Desktops Can Get In on the Fun | Snapchat fans have some new tools to play with this fall. The biggest addition may be Snapchat for Web for those who want a less mobile experience, but there are also new lock screen widgets for iOS 16, Question Stickers that let you host Ask Me Anythings from Snapchat Stories, and more. Thanks, Snap! | | Amazon finally updated their entry-level Kindle, and Charlie Sorrel is all for it, praising how it no longer looks "like something that fell out of a cereal packet." Y'know, we can't say he's wrong; go look up the original Kindle's design. | | Not much Reddit love from the TikTokers | | A lot of people use TikTok, and a lot of them also frequent other social platforms. Why? Maybe to diversify their online content intake. Regardless, if you use TikTok, chances are you also use Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube, while mostly avoiding LinkedIn and Reddit. Somehow, that makes sense to us. | | ๐ฅ Today's Hot Deal | This 43-Inch, 4K Omni Fire TV is down to $367.48 on Amazon right now. But you don't just get the TV, as it comes with a four-year protection plan, too. Breakdowns, mechanical failures, it covers it all, so you can buy one and feel safe doing so. | | | | "Have you tried using the original iTunes lately?" —Bob Schulties, Senior Editor | | ๐ You Know You Want It | Wait, that's not a book at all! | You could get any case for your MacBook, but why do that when the BookBook exists? When in use, it's clear you're using a MacBook, but when it's closed, prepare to disguise it as a weathered old book, complete with a legit-looking book spine. You have to admit, it's pretty darn good looking. | | Still trying to wrap your head around the HBO Max and Discovery+ situation? No worries, because The Verge has the deep dive you need. We can't promise it'll make losing a bunch of shows and movies any easier, though. | | |
